News — Carrier Bag Appeal
Your local food bank always needs carrier bags.
Washington Community Food Project use around 100 bags for life a week and often have to buy them, eating into their vital funds that are used to buy essential food items.
Charging for carrier bags has reduced plastic bag use by more than 85%, which is great. However, it’s meant donations of bags to food banks have also drastically fallen.
Giving your spare carrier bags to a food bank is a valid and necessary form of recycling, so we ask that you please donate your spare bags.
A collection point has been set up in Wessington Square at Galleries.
Thank you!
