News — EV Charging Points
We have launched 8 new EV Charging Points with Pod Point.
Shoppers can now access one of eight charging points located in Car Park near to the entrance at McDonalds and JD.
To begin charging their vehicles, EV drivers need only to download the Pod Point Apo, drive up to the charging point, plug in their cable and then confirm the named charger via the app within 15 minutes.
The energy consumption of the EV charging points, delivered by EV charging specialist Pod Point, is fully trackable, offering a complete picture of usage data. This allows The Galleries to track demand and to expand its EV charging facilities when required.
By accommodating the growing number of EV drivers within the area, The Galleries provides them with a handy charging point, without the need for a detour to stay topped up.
David McNee, Centre Manager at The Galleries, said: “With more and more people opting for electrical vehicle and with limited charging facilities available locally, installing the new charging points at our centre felt like the right thing to do, for visitors and for the environment. We’re pleased people now have the freedom to visit us without the added worry of where to charge vehicles, with the new charging points a welcome addition to our existing 2,500 free parking spaces.”
Scott Linard, Director – Asset Management (UK Retail & Leisure) at M&G Real Estate, said: “Cutting carbon emissions and protecting the environment is a positive step and is something we feel is important to invest in. By making The Galleries an even more attractive destination for shoppers, we are actively supporting our retailers by helping to increase footfall and the length of visits, which benefits everyone.”
