News — M The Galleries Welcomes New Stores and Bigger Brands in 2026
There is plenty new to discover at M The Galleries in Washington, with a run of new stores and bigger spaces for some of your favourite brands arriving through 2026. More people are choosing to shop at the centre too, with footfall up 19% on the same point in 2025.
The big arrival last week was the family fashion retailer Peacocks, which opened it’s new store in Wessington Square (next to Savers) on Thursday 11th June at 9am. To celebrate, Geordie favourite Charlotte Crosby cut the ribbon, with golden tickets for the first 10 customers through the door, each worth a free £50 voucher to spend in store.
The store stocks women’s, men’s and children’s fashion in the season’s latest styles at Peacocks’ renowned great-value prices, including the brand’s celebrity collections: the latest Louise Redknapp Edit, the Dani Dyer Collection and the menswear range as seen on Michael Owen.
Sharron Lamb, Retail Director at Peacocks, said: “We are so excited to welcome shoppers to our new store in Washington, and we can’t wait to join Charlotte to celebrate the opening properly. She’s a local icon, just like we’re hoping to be. With our new summer collections for all the family, shoppers can be sure to get everything they need to enjoy the new season at Peacocks.”
Peacocks joins a run of recent arrivals at the centre. Mobile Phone Essentials has moved into a larger home (next to the William Hill entrance), and Alex Barbers has joined (next to the ASDA entrance). The Works has moved into a bigger, brighter store, located in Albany Mall (next to The Fragrance Shop), with a wider range of books, gifts, stationery and craft, and Baytree Interiors is now open on the Ground Floor (near the Bus Station entrance) with a stylish selection of furniture, lighting and home accessories.
