Flowering Cherry Trees Donated to Local Park
As part of the Galleries’ Earth Hour efforts, which included turning off all non-essential lighting and a craft activity that saw over 200 families wrap up Bluebell bulbs as a gift for Mother’s Day, the Centre donated 6 flowering Cherry Trees to the Friends of Princess Anne Park.
Christine Parker from the Friends of the Princess Anne Park said: “We are delighted with the donation of cherry trees for the Park. Currently there are no cherry trees within the park so they will add colour and interest. Our plan is to plant them close to the new notice boards which will be placed at the main entrances.
“Many thanks to the Washington Galleries for their generous donation and support.”
The Park is a fantastic local resource next to the Galleries and the Friends group are working with local people, groups and businesses to breathe life into the public space with litter picks, planting and events.
The Friends are also looking for volunteers to help with litter picks and bulb planting and staff from our security and housekeeping teams as well as staff from Costa and ASDA have helped with previous events.
